What We Can Build
Every SleeperKing mattress is made to order, so a custom bunk size costs you a measurement rather than a compromise. These are the limits we work within.
Cuts and shapes we handle
Notch cuts
Square or angled cut-outs for cabinet returns, closet bases, fridge housings and control panels that intrude into the bunk.
Radius corners
Rounded corners to match a moulded bunk pan or a curved sleeper wall. Tell us the radius, or trace the corner onto paper and send a photo.
Angled and tapered sides
Bunks that narrow toward the foot or sit against a sloping sleeper wall. We build the taper in rather than forcing a rectangle into the space.
Low-profile builds
Reduced thickness for top bunks and mid-roof sleepers where headroom is tight or the bunk has to fold up against the wall.
Split and bi-fold builds
Two-piece mattresses for bunks that lift for storage access, or berths that can only be reached through a narrow cab door.
Custom and aftermarket sleepers
ARI, Bolt, Legacy and owner-built sleepers are almost never a standard size. Send the dimensions of the berth as built and we'll match it.
How to Measure Your Sleeper Cab Bunk
Five minutes with a tape measure and the job is done. Measure the bunk pan, not the mattress sitting in it — an old truck mattress has been compressed by road vibration for years and copying its dimensions repeats whatever went wrong last time.
- Pull the old mattress out completely. Measure the bare bunk pan — the metal or wood tray the mattress sits in.
- Measure width and length inside the pan. Take width at the narrowest point and length at the shortest. If the two ends differ, give us both numbers and note which is which.
- Subtract one inch from both figures. That clearance lets the mattress drop into the recessed frame without bulging at the edges, and leaves room to tuck in heavy winter bedding.
- Note every intrusion. Cabinet returns, closet bases, fridge housings, control panels and retainer lips. Measure how far each cuts in and where along the bunk it sits.
- Check your headroom. Top bunks, mid-roof sleepers and fold-up berths limit how thick a mattress can be and still clear. Measure from the pan to the obstruction above.
- Photograph anything unusual. A radius corner, an angled wall or an odd cut-out is easier to quote from a photo with a tape measure alongside for scale than from a description.
Trim packages change the numbers
Two trucks of the same make, model and year can take different mattresses depending on the interior package and sleeper configuration. Fleet-spec and owner-spec builds differ, and aftermarket sleepers rarely match anything. Measure even if you know what the last mattress was.

Can you build any size semi truck mattress?
Yes, within 24" to 80" wide and 48" to 84" long, in 8", 10" or 12" thickness. Our standard sizes are 36x80, 39x80 and 42x80 — anything outside those is built to your measurement. Notch cuts, radius corners, angled sides and low-profile builds are all standard work rather than special requests.
How much more does a custom truck mattress cost?
A custom size is quoted per job, based on the dimensions and cuts involved. There is no separate design or tooling fee — you pay for the mattress, not for the fact that it's custom.
How long does a custom truck mattress take?
Three to four weeks from approved measurements to delivery. We confirm your dimensions in writing before cutting.
Are custom mattresses DOT compliant?
Yes. Every SleeperKing truck mattress meets FMVSS 302 flammability requirements for commercial vehicle interiors, custom sizes included. A custom cut does not change the materials or the certification.
Do you build for aftermarket and custom sleepers?
Yes. ARI, Bolt, Legacy and owner-built sleepers are among the most common custom jobs we see, because a custom berth is almost never a standard mattress size. Send the dimensions of the bunk as built.
Can you do custom sizes for a fleet?
Yes, and fleet quantities are priced separately from single units. Tell us how many trucks and which makes and models — if the fleet is mixed, we can quote per configuration rather than making you order one size for everything.
What if I measure wrong?
We check every set of measurements against the make, model and sleeper configuration you give us, and query anything that looks off before building. Custom sizes still carry the 120-night guarantee.
